A report commissioned by the government has allayed fears that the loan could damage the digital book industry
library users should be able to borrow eBooks from your home, according to a report commissioned by the government in e-loans. This is great news for all those who agree that ebooks loans is a crucial part of a modern library service, especially as e-readers become more affordable.

Concerns seem weak based on two assumptions: that people who never go into debt to buy (in fact, library users buy more books than the average) and the people who read e-books do not buy printed books (in fact, more likely to buy a book printing, if you own an e-reader). There is no logic in what libraries lend physical books and e-books, provided that appropriate controls are in place. Examination Sieghart wisdom suggests that digital loans must be taken physical loans - forcing ebooks to "degrade" after a number of loans, for example. It also recommends that the long-awaited extension of PLR (PLR) to e loans.
